Remote Mouse™ is free software that lets you conveniently control your computer with your phone. It’s a remote mouse, keyboard and touchpad combined, and supports click and slide multi-touch gestures for even greater convenience.

Download and install the Remote Mouse app on your smartphone, then download, install and set up the server on your computer – it can be set to start with system startup. Connect both phone and computer to the same WiFi network or hotspot (Remote Mouse works with both 3G and 4G) and you’re ready to start remotely controlling the computer from the phone. Connection can also be made using the IP address or, if applicable, using a QR code.

With Remote Mouse set up and connected, you can control your computer with your phone on three peripheral devices:

• Mouse – simulates regular mouse function inclusive of availability of gyro sensor and left-hand mode.
• Keyboard – integrates with system keyboard, third-party keyboards and input of a number of languages, and supports voice recognition depending on the keyboard capability.
• Touchpad – Apple Magic Trackpad with multi-touch gesture support.

You’ll be able to use your phone as a remote control to shut down and restart your computer from the phone app, apply sleep mode or log off all with a single click. Other convenient features enable the quick launching and switching between applications, and using the volume buttons on the phone to control the sound volume on the computer.

Permissions need to be set for the app including the ability to view network connections, receive internet data and enable WiFi Multicast reception. The device also needs to be set to prevent it from sleeping and to control vibration.

More than a remote mouse, keyboard and touchpad

When you install the Remote Mouse app to use your phone as a remote control for your computer, you can customize the user interface to best work for you – turn on the features you want and turn off those you don’t want. The Settings tab is at left on the menu bar at the bottom of the interface. Other features include:

• Setting a password for connection
• Customizable wallpaper
• Setting auto connect
• Connecting via history
• Access to specialty control panels that can be added to the application to enable specific operations such as Media Remote, for use with PowerPoint, Media Player and more, and Web Remote which supports Firefox, Chrome, and Opera.

Remote Mouse lets you control your computer with your phone from anywhere, any time. Having gyroscope ability to wave your phone to move the cursor, or clicking the app’s voice button to start typing via voice recognition, will provide you with speedier performance and great convenience. The server is compatible with Windows 7, 8 and 10 and the application requires a Wifi or phone network connection.
